Teaching Your Pet to Lie Down

An important command to help promote relaxation.

Step 1: Create a Quiet Environment

Always select a calm and quiet room as your training space. Ensure there are no distractions that could divert your pet's attention.

Step 2: Use Super Tasty Treats

Choose a small, highly desirable treat that is exclusively used for training sessions. This will enhance your pet's motivation to learn.

Step 3: Ensure Your Dog Understands Your Commands

Be consistent with the words and commands you use during training. For example, use "down" as the command, and say "yes" or "good girl" when they successfully follow the command.

Step 4: Guide Your Pet to Lie Down

Your pet should be familiar with the "sit" command before learning to lie down. When your pet is sitting, say "down" and hold the treat close to their nose. Gradually lower the treat to the ground between their front legs until it reaches the floor. Your dog should instinctively follow the treat and move forward with their front paws. As soon as your dog's chest touches the ground, say "yes" or "good girl" and reward them with the treat.

Step 5: Repeat Regularly in 15-Minute Intervals

Once your pet masters this command in the quiet training room, gradually introduce training sessions in other areas to reinforce their learning.
